OHIO – Action Industries, a leading manufacturer and distributor of garage and overhead door products, is expanding its range of window system products to the commercial overhead door market, with an emphasis on customization and affordability. Having debuted at the IDAExpo+ event in April, the commercial window systems come in common industry sizes and can also be configured for exact customer specifications. To meet common OEM specifications, the frame is injection-molded for a cleaner look, can be color matched, is designed to hold up to harsh weather, and can be placed in ribbed doors via an innovative sealed rib design.

With national and regional door manufacturers looking to stay innovative while keeping landed costs down, Action aligns its engineering, production and distribution processes to cater to customer configuration and supply needs. “At the IDA show we had a very strong debut of our window system features, benefits, and customization options for current customers and potential partners,” stated Marc Calcaterra, CEO of Action Industries. “Many of our partners are realizing the benefits of working with Action not only as distributor of garage and overhead door products, but as a solutions-based manufacturer that is laser focused on our customer needs.”

Customization can be achieved while controlling costs due to innovative designs that can be reviewed through a rapid prototype process before windows are mass produced. Kevin Wright, the lead project engineer at Action, believes this approach allows door manufacturers to get a tangible feel for the product and have it fully refined before investing in a production order. With an easy-to-assemble design, the window systems can also significantly reduce labor costs during installation. “We are garage door experts at the core, and our collective years of experience in the industry provided the juice to bring this configurable concept to reality,” stated Kevin.

Kevin shared that another key benefit of partnering with Action is having the ability to order a pallet of product instead of a truckload. “In working with North America’s leading door manufacturers, we know that removing a minimum order requirement will reduce warehouse storage through just-in-time shipping programs via our distribution centers across the country,” stated Kevin.

The patent pending commercial window systems are being manufactured in Evansville, Indiana under the leadership of Joe Sitzman, VP of Operations, and can be ordered through Action OEM’s experienced Account Executives. “Our OEM team has been actively meeting with partners to share samples of the product and discuss solutions… and the feedback has been extremely positive, with initial order discussions happening at an early stage,” stated Marc.
