Gabriel-Glas North America

LOCATION: Napa, CA

INDUSTRY: Food and Beverage

Gabriel-Glas North America (“GGNA”) is the exclusive distributor of Gabriel-Glas glassware throughout North America.  Gabriel-Glas was founded in Austria by famed Swiss wine critic Rene Gabriel in 2010 after his decade-long search to design a lead-free, crystal, universal wine glass that could show off the best elements of any wine.  His longtime friend Tempe Reidchardt launched Gabriel-Glas North America in 2013 as the exclusive importer and distributor for glassware throughout the continent.

Kaulig Capital acquired GGNA in December of 2021 alongside, Jonah Beer, a Napa Valley-based wine entrepreneur.  Jonah is a leader in the wine industry with 20+ years experience in selling luxury wines directly to the consumer. Throughout his career, Jonah has developed strong connections into the complex and fragmented national network of distributors, and deep-rooted relationships with influential Sommeliers, Chefs, and restaurateurs, making him an ideal partner for Kaulig Capital in this transaction.

Jonah Beer and Tim Clepper of Kaulig Capital first met at Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars in 1999 when Jonah—then a tasting room host and himself quite the glasswasher—gave a tour to Tim and his wife Amy while they were visiting the valley on their honeymoon. Jonah and Tim stayed in contact over the years and finally found the right opportunity to go into business together. Post-transaction, Jonah Beer stepped into the role of CEO at Gabriel-Glas North America.

A diverse group of co-investors participated alongside Kaulig Capital in the acquisition.
